Located on the former British Steel Production Facility at Glan Llyn, demolition and remediation works commenced with clearing the former steelworks buildings and ensuring that the site was environmentally safe. Over the next 20 years, Llanwern will become one of the most significant newly built communities in Wales. The regeneration scheme is the cornerstone of Newport’s growth strategy and will deliver 4,000 new dwellings along with a substantial new business park. The scheme will generate 6,000 new jobs and provide two new primary schools, a local centre containing retail and community facilities, and a significant area of new public open space and structural landscaping.
