Cumming, under the name of Prosurv, were appointed as Project Manager, Cost Consultant and Employer’s Agent on the construction of a new two-form entry primary school in Glan Llyn, South Wales. The 2,600m2 school can accommodate up to 420 local primary pupils, provides nursery facilities for younger children, and has two classes that can serve up to 20 pupils with additional learning needs. It also has multiple external teaching spaces and an outdoor classroom area, with some sheltered areas and different surface finishes. The school features a 3G floodlit sports pitch, which is available for community use when school is not in session.

Energy efficiency was of key importance to the local authority and the inclusion of photovoltaic panels was instrumental in achieving the established targets. Other energy efficiency efforts included incorporating natural light via roof lights and sun pipes, natural ventilation strategies and an underfloor heating system. The project was completed in June 2019 and the client was St. Modwen Developments.
