Inverforth House, Hampstead, UK

Project Description

In 1999, the redevelopment of Inverforth House, a Grade I listed building, to provide two luxury houses and seven apartments won The Sunday Times’ “Prestigious Development of the Year” award. In 2000 and 2001, the purchaser of the long leasehold interests in the two houses and four of the seven apartments began to raise concerns about the quality of the development works. By early 2001, the developer had instigated a programme of remedial works.

Progress with the remedial works was slow and in September 2001, Cumming, under the name of MHBC, received instructions to undertake an audit of the works and to review proposals going forward. As a consequence of the audit, our team then assisted with re-structuring the project and took over the roles of project manager, architect, contract administrator and, crucially, tenant liaison, which involved the management and coordination of the temporary relocation of all tenants whilst a major scheme of remedial works was undertaken.
