Heathy Wood, Copthorne, UK

Heathy Wood in Copthorne is a 50-acre mixed-use development that will provide 500 residential units, GP surgery, a school, allotments, informal open space and 200,000 sq. ft. of industrial and commercial units. Cumming Group, under the name of Prosurv, commenced works in 2012 to assist in bringing a challenging site to planning approval and have successfully overseen the construction of a new roundabout off the busy A264 without disruption to the nearby M23 motorway and on-plot infrastructure.

The infrastructure boasts 1.17 km of roads for adoption, two bridges over the Copthorne Brook and a bespoke overhead gantry for the safe passage of dormice between areas of sensitive Ancient Woodland. The project also includes the provision of all incoming utilities infrastructure, along with foul and surface water drainage to service both the residential and commercial development plots. The client is St. Modwen Developments.
