Coed Darcy Urban Village, Neath Port Talbot, South Wales

Cumming Group is acting as Project Manager, Cost Manager, Employer’s Agent, Contract Administrator and Principal Designer on the landmark Coed Darcy Urban Village development in Neath Port Talbot. Located on the former BP Llandarcy Oil Refinery site, which was decommissioned in the 1990s, Coed Darcy is set to become a sustainable community of 4,000 traditionally styled Welsh homes, providing more than 10,000 residents with new living opportunities, including retail, leisure, sports, and community facilities along with acres of green, open space. To date, the works on this ongoing, 20-year scheme have included an extensive remediation programme, onsite drainage and infrastructure, an offsite link road, and improvements to the motorway junction to support the completion of 300 residential units and counting. Prior to commencement of the build phases, we worked closely with The Princes Foundation and the Town Architect to establish an affordable yet sustainable design brief. Ecological consideration of the site is also being taken into account, given its location adjacent to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
